Gronk joins Rice with impressive Super Bowl TD record

Rob Gronkowski made some history throughout Super Bowl LV on Sunday night, as he caught his second touchdown pass of the game throughout the 2nd quarter. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end signed up with 49ers legend Jerry Rice as the only two players to haul in multiple goal catches in numerous Super Bowls.

Rice had 3 touchdowns in the 49ers' Super Bowl XXIV win over the Denver Broncos, and also captured a trio of touchdowns in a 49-26 win over the then-San Diego Chargers in Super Bowl XXIX.

Gronkowski first took several goals in a Super Bowl back in 2018, when he accumulated 9 catches for 116 yards and 2 touchdowns in the New England Patriots' 41-33 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LII.

Sunday is Gronkowski's 5th Super Bowl appearance, while Rice appeared in four over his embellished NFL profession.

Gronk may have matched Rice's touchdown record, however it'll be quite difficult to catch Rice's league-record 48 points scored in Super Bowls.
